Looking after and rearing chickens can not only be profitable and save you money in time but it can also be a tremendous amount of fun. And the fun starts when you eventually decide to build a chicken coop. And to do that you obviously need a good chicken coop plan.

If you are thinking of building a chicken coop don’t think that you are the alone. In fact there are more than 90,000 folks who are looking for instructions each month for building chicken coop so in this article I will give you three simple and very basic tips for constructing that ideal hen house. So read on and try not to ignore these tips.

Initially it is very important that you make sure that your chicken coop does not leak. There are a lot of inexpensive materials that you can use to ensure that your coop is waterproof. Chickens do not like the rain contrary to what most people think so you need to make sure that their house does not become soaking wet each time it rains because if you don’t do this one simple thing you will have some very unhappy chickens on your hands.

The second thing that you need to remember is that although initially you may only have two or three chickens, after a while you may increase your flock to a dozen birds or even more. The danger is that you might think that you only need to build a very small coop in the first place not thinking that you may eventually need a much larger construction. You don’t want your birds to be all squashed in their house so be sure to build for the future and not just what you have today.

Last, but by no means least, comes what I believe may be the most crucial stage of all – you need to make your hen coop as impregnable as you possibly can. You need it to be bomb-proof. Well not quite but you see my point. There are lots of predators around that love chicken dinner so you definitely don’t to build something that ends up as easy pickings for the nasty Mr Fox. So build it so that it will last for years to come and make sure it is robust. Some barbed wire around it might not be a bad idea too.

Because your birds mean a lot to you they deserve a home that know is dry, snug and secure and the above tips that I have given you should ensure that feel just that.

These are just a few tips you should follow religiously. If you’d like more great info on building chicken coops, and where you can get the best chicken coop plan check out the link in my signature. You’ll be building the absolute best chicken coop possible in record time.
