The chicken has a wide variety of breed. If you intend to raise such fowls it will be better to look for the right breed that will suits your interest and ability to domesticate. In this article I will be focusing in some tallest breed of chicken.

The first to be considered as the tallest breed of chicken goes to the breed known as Malay. The rooster of this breed grows up to 3ft. (90cm). This breed is very rare and been classified as critical species in its status of conservation. Malay is an old breed whose origin is trace back in Southeast Asia. Malay is also known as beetle-brow because of the projection of bone in the eye. It has a hard and tight feather closely situated in its body.

Malays physical appearance includes yellow beak, pearl eye and yellow shanks and toes. The standard breed weighs 9pounds for male and 7pounds for female, for bantam breed the male is 44oz and the female is 36oz. The comb size varies from small up to medium with strawberry color which is well grown in the brow. It has a small red earlobes and wattles. The kinds of Malay breed include black, black-breasted red, mottled, red pyle, spangled, wheaten and the white Malay.

The next tallest chicken is the Saipan Jungle Fowl. The male of this breed grows up to 3 ft upon maturity. The rooster weighs 9pounds to 13pounds while the hen weighs 8pounds to 9pounds. It has a hard and tight feather and a short tail. The rooster is muscular and stands straight when it is 2 to 3 years old. The combed of this breed is either flat or pea. Instead of wattles it has dewlap. The hens are prone to brooding and they are excellent mother. They lay cream color eggs.

Another breed which the rooster grows up to 3ft is the Shamo.

Shamo is a Japanese name of a game and later been tag to the breed. This breed also has a hard feather and stands upright. The brow ridges are heavy, beaks are sturdy and short, it has a pearl eye, a pea comb, it has short wattles or no wattles at all, it has small tail and has a short feathers.

It has two standard class colors the American color and the Japanese color. The American color includes dark, black and black breasted red. In Japanese class color it includes black (kokushoku), blue (asagi), white (hakushoku), dark red hackled (abura), mottled (goishi), brown (shojo), yellow hackled (kisasa) and red hackled (akasasa). This breed is easy to raise and has a pleasant personalities. They tend to be aggressive toward other chicken in terms of territorial claims and sometimes result to problem when the small chicks engaged in early fighting.

Overall this three breed is known to be the tallest breed of chicken. Through selective cross breeding of chickens it is expected to see a new breed that will hold this special qualities. For now this three breed take pride of this position.
