What you see – Come evening and you see people thronging Chef Inam’s Steak House 1 at Masab Tank, Hyderabad for their chunk of perfectly cooked steak. Many of them would be businessmen, film producers and expats. And most would prefer to be served in their cars. Others who come with families would opt for the under-the-sky dining option behind the restaurant. There is basic no-frills seating space inside too. And as for Chef Inam Khan, he is a busy man whipping up sea bass and other steaks. Having run his hotel, the Maharaja of Ohio in the US frequented by the who’s who, the Hyderabadi hotelier blends international food grade norms and herbs with the city’s warm tehzeeb.

What you get – Most people come here for succulent beef steaks that are protein rich and thus preferred by gym goers. Jumbo chicken steaks which has chicken breast marinated with olive oil, crushed black pepper, rosemary and thyme is a good option on the menu as also sea bass fish steak prepared in Cape Cod style marinated in rosemary vinegar, olive oil, crushed ginger and garlic flakes. Sea food options on the barbeque menu range from tiger prawns, tuna, king fish to red snapper based on availability.

The restaurant also offers family BBQ dinner platters with Hungarian tenderloin steak, ‘Rosemary oregano chicken steak’, ‘Afghani tandoori chicken’, ‘Boston style tenderloin steak’ and more assorted platters to choose from. For the lamb chops buffs there are Turkish style and Hungarian spicy options to choose from. Dinner gets interesting with Tandoori roti, Italian herb rice, Paneer butter masala, Zafran ka murgh and more.

Our verdict – If you are fond of steaks, this is close to what you would be served in the US – cooked the way you prefer. The options are varied to ensure you come here for more. Try the ‘Sea bass steak’ that is the favorite with steak lovers across the world. Caper and thyme steak brings out flavors of roasted capers and thyme sprigs and offers a generous 120gm of protein. A spicy option is the Fusion flame tenderloin with paprika, ginger garlic and pepper, grilled to perfection. Go for the unique dishes in the main course such as Gulab ki patti ka gosht which is succulent lamb cooked with roasted rose petals, saffron sprigs and nutmeg. Vegetarian options are few and nice like the Achaari tandoori gobi and Okraini gobi masala which has vegetable dumplings cooked in poppy seed and roasted cashew sauce with garam masala. Ignore the ambience as the food makes up for it. Service is fine. Parking space is available.
